Cecilia Hernández, MD, is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist with advanced expertise in glaucoma diagnosis and surgical management. She provides care for adult patients ages 18 and older and is committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centered treatment focused on preserving vision and protecting long-term optic nerve health.
Dr. Hernández completed her ophthalmology residency at the Storm Eye Institute at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she also served as Chief Resident. She is currently completing a glaucoma fellowship at the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute at the University of Colorado, gaining advanced training in medical, laser, and surgical glaucoma care, including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS).
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Hernández has an extensive background in academic research, teaching, and leadership. She has authored peer-reviewed publications, presented at national ophthalmology meetings, and participated in international medical mission work. Her approach combines advanced surgical skill with compassionate communication and individualized treatment planning.
