Telemedicine Eye Care in Hanford, CA

Kings Eye Center connects patients across Hanford and Kings County with licensed optometrists through secure video visits. Patients can request a virtual consultation from home, work, or any location with internet access.

A telemedicine visit does not replace a comprehensive in-office eye exam. It works well as a first step for certain concerns and as an option for select follow-up appointments. When a condition requires testing, imaging, or a hands-on exam, the care team schedules the appropriate in-office visit.

What Happens During a Telemedicine Visit

A telemedicine visit is a live, one-on-one video appointment with a Kings Eye Center provider. Patients join from a phone, tablet, or computer and speak directly with an ophthalmologist or optometrist.

During the visit, the provider will:

  • Review the patient’s symptoms and eye health history
  • Explain treatment options and answer clinical questions
  • Provide pre-operative education for upcoming procedures
  • Determine whether in-office testing or imaging is necessary

Kings Eye Center conducts every telemedicine visit through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform that protects patient privacy and personal health information.

When a Virtual Visit Makes Sense

Telemedicine suits discussion-based care, patient education, and follow-ups that do not require diagnostic equipment. Common uses include:

  • Medication & Eye Drop Support
    • Questions about your medications or eye drops, including check-ins to help you stay on track with multiple drop regimens
  • Minor Eye Concerns
    • Mild irritation, redness, or styes
  • Dry Eye Follow-Ups
    • Follow-up visits for patients already being treated for dry eye
    • Note: Telemedicine is available for dry eye follow-ups only; new dry eye concerns require an in-person visit

If a provider identifies a need for eye pressure measurement, pupil dilation, or imaging, the office schedules an in-person appointment immediately after the virtual visit.

How to Prepare for Your Telemedicine Appointment

Before Your Appointment

To help your visit go smoothly, please:

  • Watch for an email/text with simple instructions to join your secure video visit
  • Use a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera, microphone, and reliable internet
  • Choose a quiet, well-lit room and have a list of your symptoms, medications, and medical history ready
  • If possible, be prepared to share photos of your eye/eyelid (our team will tell you how, if needed)

During Your Appointment

Most virtual visits take about 15–30 minutes. During the visit:

  • Your provider will ask questions, review your concerns, and discuss possible next steps
  • You may be asked to adjust lighting or change your camera angle to help us better view your eyes
  • If your symptoms suggest you need testing (such as imaging or eye pressure checks), we’ll recommend an in-office exam

After Your Appointment

When the visit ends, you’ll receive:

  • Clear next steps, recommendations, and self-care guidance (when appropriate)
  • Help with scheduling an in-office visit or follow-up if needed
  • Prescriptions or medication guidance when clinically appropriate, along with instructions on what to watch for
